Outreach Committee Mission Statement, Christ Church Cathedral
The mission of Outreach is to improve the quality of life within the greater Springfield community, our nation, and the world. Our objective is to reach beyond the church walls to bring Christ’s vision of a loving and sharing community to fruition. We recognize that there are unmet needs within all segments of society as we support those agencies that attempt to heal our brokenness. We will also be engaged in direct participation when we can be of service.
“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Matthew 6:21
Mateo 6:21
In 2015, the Outreach Committee continued to expand communications about Cathedral-wide outreach efforts, collaborated with intern Kevin Smallwood in his Faith in Action initiative, ran a successful Hope Totes Campaign, provided support for the Square One Domestic Violence Support Program, participated in the Revitalize Green N Fit Event, promoted the Gardening the Community Plant Sale, sponsored a new Holy Cross student, held an Adult Forum, met with the Executive Committee, and had an Outreach Breakfast Retreat with representation from other church committees. The Outreach Committee was assigned oversight of the Jim Munroe fund for the homeless. We also distributed funds to eight worthwhile agencies.
